The Barony of Ponte Alto Welcomes You!

Greetings!

You're new here, aren't you? That's fine, don't panic. We're glad you're here!

The Barony of Ponte Alto is a local group within the Kingdom of Atlantia, one of the 19 Kingdoms of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc., otherwise known as the SCA.

The SCA is a non-profit educational organization whose members research and attempt to recreate various aspects of life during the time period of 600 A.D. to 1600 A.D. Members research and recreate period arts and crafts, cooking, dancing, and costume. If someone did it in the Middle Ages, chances are there is someone in the SCA who is doing it. Unlike many re-enactment groups, however, we do not re-enact period occurrences exactly as they happened. You will frequently hear an SCA person describe the SCA as recreating the Middle Ages "as they ought to have been."

If you're interested in getting involved in the SCA, and you live in or near the Arlington/Fairfax/Alexandria area of Virginia, please contact me. I'm the Baronial Chatelain, and it's my job to answer questions, help you find resources, and otherwise help you get acquainted with the SCA. I also encourage you to check out the links on this page to find out more about who we are, what we do, and how you can be a part of it.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you start your life in the "current Middle Ages!"
