Who We Are

The Barony of Ponte Alto is a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism based in the inner Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC.  Ponte Alto is part of the Kingdom of Atlantia which stretches from Maryland to South Carolina, plus a little bit of Georgia. Map of Atlantia.

What We Do

The Barony works to re-create parts of the Middle Ages through "hands on" activities such as armored combat, fencing, archery, clothing making, embroidery, and music.

Where We Are

The Barony's official territory covers Fairfax County (except for Centreville and Chantilly), Arlington County, and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, and Falls Church, but our activities are open to anyone who is interested.

Thursday Heavy Weapons Practice

On Thursday, February 4th, a double elimination tournament was held at heavy weapons practice. There were 14 fighters in armor, including Their Highnesses Dietrich and Thora. Sir Ragnarr and Lady Ariadne were generous enough to put up prizes for the top placing member of the chivalry and the top placing unbelted fighter: A 14th century spur and a stick of rattan, respectively. After several hard fought rounds, the final fight was between Count John Peregrine and Master Jonathas Reinisch. Count John won the final bout. The prize of rattan went to Master Jonathas. The spur went to Count John, who then gave it to Cadwallader Ap Ieuan in recognition of his skill and character during the practice. Vivant to the winners and vivat to Lord Hákon for his hard work in organizing the tournament!

Sunday Heavy Weapons Practice

Starting February 7th the Tysons Pimmit Regional Library will be closed for renovations for about a year and a half. Restrooms will still be available in the Sunnoco Gas Station and at Trader Joe's and the Coffee Shop on the other side of the Peach Tree of McClean Appartments.

Baronial Letters of Intent: UPDATE

Please join us in congratulating our next Baron and Baroness of Ponte Alto: Lord Alric the Mad and Lady Cellach Mór. Investiture is scheduled for February 20th, 2016. Event web page can be found here.

To All Heavy Weapons Fighters of Ponte Alto and Its Environs!

A reminder to those to attend marshal activities and practice at Fairfax County Public Schools: Fairfax County Schools do not allow any form of real weapons, even work knives, Swiss Army knives, box cutters, etc, to be brought onto school property. Lemon Road Elementary has in the past officially informed the Barony that any infraction of this rule will result in the perrnanent loss of our practice site there. Therefore, please be respectful of this rule so that we may continue having our practices at this school. Thank you!

A&S Gallery

Ponte Alto is continually seeking submissions from our local artisans for our online gallery of A&S projects. If you are interested in displaying your work, whether finished or in-progress, send your photographs and descriptions to the MOAS.
