Who We Are

The Barony of Ponte Alto is a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism based in the inner Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC.  Ponte Alto is part of the Kingdom of Atlantia which stretches from Maryland to South Carolina, plus a little bit of Georgia. Map of Atlantia.

What We Do

The Barony works to re-create parts of the Middle Ages through "hands on" activities such as armored combat, fencing, archery, clothing making, embroidery, and music.

Where We Are

The Barony's official territory covers Fairfax County (except for Centreville and Chantilly), Arlington County, and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, and Falls Church, but our activities are open to anyone who is interested.

Ponte Alto needs a new Herald!

Greetings to the good Gentles of Ponte Alto,

Pray attend.

At the beginning of the coming year I will step down as our baronial herald after two terms of serving our barony. This chair cannot be empty. The Barony, by law, must have a baronial herald. There is no deputy to turn to and so I come to you all to ask if anyone is interested in taking on this necessary, interesting, and fun position. I will happily help you learn the responsibilities and resources you have at your disposal. This community, the Atlantian College of Heralds, is welcoming and supportive, and will be there to guide you through the ins and outs of Atlantian heraldry. Please email me, or PM me on Facebook if you are interested.

Herald, Ponte Alto

Practice & Potluck in the Park

Join us for a pleasant afternoon at Tyson Pimmit Park In Falls Church VA on Sunday, October 23rd. Ponte Alto will have a day shade up. Bring your gear, family, lunch, crafty stuff, music, or just your wonderful self! We'll follow the day in the park with the monthly Business meeting across Rt. 7 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Note: The library is closed, Restrooms will still be available in the Sunnoco Gas Station and at Trader Joe's and the Coffee Shop on the other side of the Peach Tree of McClean Appartments

Heavy Weapons Practice

The Tysons Pimmit Regional Library is closed for renovation and therefore on-site bathrooms will not be available. Bathrooms nearby at Pete's Coffee Shoppe and Trader Joe's will be available.

Note also that although the library and just over half the parking lot are now closed off by fencing during the construction, the outer ring of the parking lot is still open for park users. The far end of the outer ring, which is nearest the park, is about 15 feet from the walkway down to our usual fight practice site in the park. Fighters may also park along the edge of the park across from the Peach Tree Garden Apartments. Please take care to leave a few empty spaces for the residents on that side of the Garden Apartments parking area.
