Ponte Alto 20 Year Celebration
February 25, 2012

Come one, come all, to the Barony of Ponte Alto's 20th Birthday Celebration! A host of activities are planned for this event including A&S displays, a palio race, competitions for the Baronial Artisan and our Baronial Bard, dancing, music, shopping, a lavish Italian feast, shopping, and more...!

Please see the schedule for details.

Website:

http://pontealto.atlantia.sca.org/events/20year/

Arts & Sciences Activities:

A full schedule of A&S activities and competitions are scheduled and will be posted on the website. There will be dancing, dancing and more dancing, with instruction and live music. Artifacts such as the original Baronial charter and documentation detailing the history of the Barony, and banners showcasing our history will be on display for all to wonder at.

Arts & Sciences Competitions:

Baron Drogo Rainulf de Dragonera and Baroness Adina von der Heide will be selecting two Champions at our 20 Year Celebration: Baronial Artisan and Baronial Bard.

The Baronial Bardic Competition will have an Italian theme. Competitors may perform a 15th or 16th Century period Italian piece, or a piece based upon period Italian construction.

Baronial Artisan Competition: Members of the barony will bring a display (documentation strongly encouraged) to be considered for the position of Baronial Artisan. There is no specific theme, simply bring your best!

In addition, to further celebrate the day, we will have two Artisan activities open to all attendees:

Rich History: It\92s time to celebrate two decades as a barony. Our name, Ponte Alto, means \93High Bridge\94 in Italian. What do you think of when you see our heraldry or hear our name? What are we known for? Use your creativity to link your display to our baronial celebration in your documentation. This will be a token cup competition - each attendee will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite entry.

New Beginnings! Have you recently (within the past 12 months) begun a new Art or Science? We\92d love to see what you\92re working on! In-progress projects welcome, participants are encouraged to spend some time with their displays to receive live feedback and encouragement.

The Races:

The Barony ran palio races when we were a new Barony and we have had races through the years with the last one held in A.S. XXXIX. Our 20th Birthday event is hosting a palio - and you can't have a palio without horses! Hobby horses that is! Bring your best steed and try your luck. Be creative. Favorite colors are sable, Or, azure and argent. Mistress Aislynn of Jarrow is our own palio controller. There will be two sets of races during the day - one division for adults and one for youth - and there will be a prize for each division.
